Happy New Year, welcome 2011, and a giveaway...

Happy New Year all,
and a big welcome to 2011.
I have to admit I am not real sad to see 2010 go...
and I am confident that 2011 will bring good things.
I spent this new years eve with a few friends
in a little house in Rockaway Beach Oregon.
And frankly just the drive there and back was enough
to make the whole thing worth it.
It was cold but lovely.
Many more photos to come.
The next few days will be spent relaxing, thinking over the last year
and thinking about the coming one.
ALSO
Pop on over and enter my
which has been extended
so its not too late to enter.
Leave a comment by midnight on Sunday January 2nd
and a winner will be announced on January 3rd.
Start the year off with a custom agenda made just for you.
Have a wonderful
weekend dears!

first snow

Yesterday morning we woke up to a lovely dusting of snow. It was just a little but it was lovely and I am hoping for more this winter.
Now I feel a wave
of crazy productive energy coming on
so I am off to go with it and see where it leads.

a reasons to be happy list for Valentine's Day

watching huge snowflakes fall
The West
the possibility of a fresh start
hot pink (and I am not usually a girl who is into pink)
good friends
appreciating the love that I DO have in my life
no longer being freaked out by driving in the snow
heart shaped sugar cookies with pink frosting
eating said cookie
a really good smelling candle
a glass of wine while eating pasta and watching old episodes of The Sopranos
the new plant in my office
my new favorite earrings
etsy
making things
wearing flip flops in the snow
an unexpected friend
a growing knowledge of who I am and what I want
the confidence to be that person and to live that life
taking a spider I find in the house outside instead of killing him
a cuddle from the kitty

colorful hemp custom love

a custom thick album covered in bright green and purple handwoven hemp
and a turquoise and lime green bookcloth and hemp small daily agenda
I love this stuff, its a tiny but harder to work with, but I sure love how it turns out. And nothing beats those super bright color combinations.

Lucy was walking carefully through the snow that is now deep enough that it comes up to her belly with each step. She wont stay out in it too long, but she sure likes to venture out.

Another pretty winter sky

snow and not the greatest place

The last few days around here we have gotten lots and lots of snow, and it is supposed to continue to come until this evening. Since i live so close to where i work these days, i don't really mind it. Instead i can just enjoy how beautiful it looks when i am all cozy reading a book in my little house. :)
Also i have found myself in a bit of a bad place the last few days.
When i get in these moods one part of me wants to obsess on figuring out WHY
i get in these moods to begin with,
but the other half just wants to figure out a way to get myself out of it.
This week I think the second half is winning.
Basically lately i have felt this crazy need
to have other people give me something
But quite often even if i do work up the courage or whatever
to actually ask or attempt to get what i need
either they don't want to give it, or they cant,
or what they can give ends up
not being what i really wanted in the first place.
And from there i generally either get filled with rage
or terribly terribly sad.
Which of course, isn't real good.
So, i am thinking now that the results will be better if I just don't ask.
If instead I try to work through it on my own, whether that be through writing it all out of me
or trying to distract myself with a very enthralling book.
Turns out I am actually pretty easily distracted and can get very wrapped up in what i read.
So we will see how this next attempt goes.
And i have no idea why i am waking up as early in the morning as i have been.
But i am really really looking forward to sleeping in this weekend
and not having anything I have to do
except watch the huge snowflakes fall. :)

simplify

Back to basics

This weekend I woke up with the need to simplify. To go back to the beginning somehow. So here is what I have planned for the day:

Coffee
A walk in the snow (and a trip to the post office)
Wine and food with friends
A clean house
Making things with my hands

photos to come...

A whirlwind

Of Christmas shopping
Talks with my sister
Of missing my home and cat and a state that I thought I couldn’t wait to leave
Of seeing family
Having tea and playing cards
of eating the best Mexican food ever (at the Red Iguana if you are ever in SLC, UT)
Seeing my first snow of the year
Adoring the mountains and the cold
Of getting up early to try to write some before everyone else wakes up
