books and leather!

This week I received in the mail a fantastic piece of lambskin. It is a beautiful shade of chocolate brown and is amazingly soft. One of my favorite things about working with this kind of leather is that each piece is different. You can tell that it its real because of the uniqueness and even imperfections that exist in each individual piece.

So my project for last night was again to mix two of my favorite things and to cover a couple of books with it.

Below is a custom 10x14 album with black pages. Soon this baby will be the photo guest book at a lovely vintage style wedding.

This smaller but equally wonderful agenda is approximately 5x7 and is covered from head to toe in this fantastically soft and unique piece of leather.

The inside of this book is made with archival quality, acid free, creme colored paper. This agenda can be used for any year as it does not have the day of the week corresponding to the date. It is super easy to use and a great size to throw in your bag and take with you on your adventures.

Both will be in the shop shortly. ~xo

grassy leather love

I finally finished the grass belt I was making for myself and I am super happy with it. Grass and belts are two of my very favorite things, so whats not to love??

I'm so happy to finally be able to wear it around.

This ones for you!

I also whipped up a little grassy leather key chain.

This baby will be in the shop shortly.

Hope everyone is doing something fun this weekend. Mine will mostly consist of fixing my car, packing, and of course a break on Saturday afternoon to see Harry Potter :) I cant wait!!

I finally went out and got the right tools and now I am making myself an awesome grass belt. I cant wait to wear it.

2 thoughts: Leather is really fun. Everything is better when you have the right tools.

PS. I may even make a cuff or key chain in this pattern for the shop in the next few days. Exciting stuff!! :)

Hope everyone is having a great week! Mine has gone super fast, I suppose because of the holiday. But that sounds good to me! xo

new work: delving into leather

A few weeks ago I started delving into a new medium.
Leather.
And goodness gracious have I enjoyed it.
It did give me a little trouble at first, but once we worked through our initial introduction period I think leather and I are going to get along just fine.

I began our friendship by making some cuffs.
Here are some of my first efforts:

Each cuff has been hand tooled,
painted, shaped, and punched
with love by me.

Restore cuff
in blue, natural, and green

A cuff to remind you to allow yourself times of renewal and restoration and rest. Because without that time of rest you cant continue to grow and give.

Grow cuff

I am a girl that loves trees. And this tree is one of my favorites.
I love this tree for its patience, wisdom, strength and quiet calm. This tree is steady through wind and rain and sunny days.
