regrowth, death, and a happy halloween

I know that fall is not usually a time to think about growth and regrowth. Traditionally its more a time of death, of one season passing away while the world gets ready to rest and prepare itself for the cold winter ahead.
But lately
the cold and the death and the rest
that seem to blanket the whole world this time of year
all make me think of the growth and the life
that will come from that rest.
This rest and
the death of a few things
is necessary
for the life of all the rest.
I am looking forward to this
mandatory hibernation
that I feel coming on with the cold.
And I am looking forward
to waking up from it.

Hope you all have a
marvelous Halloween
weekend.

jewelry!

Still obsessed with leaves as you can see.
and copper.
and being BOLD.

(be bold pendants in copper and silver in the lower left corner,
eclipse pendant, copper leaf earrings, copper and silver leaf necklace, love necklace
and cloudy day necklace. Chains will be added :)

Things I love right now:
the leaves swirling around in the wind outside my window
herbal tea
the sound of my tumbler tumbling
light rain
reading on my purple couch
the colors of the leaves
lasagna

a new month and yesterday's sky

With this new month here are some random thoughts to ponder or discard…

1. One day I think I really need to own a beach house.
2. "It is never too late to be what you might have been"
George Eliot
3. Give things TIME.
You almost never have a full, correct view of something at first glance.
Give it time, to settle in, to let its full meaning show.
THEN make your judgments and determine your actions.
4. I should go to the library more.
People always seem to meet people or have significant experiences in libraries.
5. Things do matter, but they don’t always matter as much as they seem to at first.
6. Make goals specific enough to be helpful.
7. This month I want to take lots of solitary walks with my camera and super long fingerless gloves.

well I think I am finally moving out of the funk I had found myself in.
Thankfully.
I am enjoying the cold weather.
I finally figured out how to turn on the baseboard heaters (which I have never used before) in my new little house.
I have felt like cooking (and eating) good food.
I am enjoying looking at the leaves and wearing big sweaters.
Things are looking up...

today

way WAY too much work to do
lots of desire for sleep
guilt at my lack of productivity
rejection of guilt (it’s a pretty pointless emotion overall…)
dinner
more work
(but no cleaning of my house)
a little writing
a little reading

lovely sleep (I am fondly anticipating this part of the day…)

there was a lovely strong wind all day today.
It feels more and more like Fall every day.
I should not have skipped my hike.

Today is my 200th blog post.
Latley i have a strong desire to revisit my views on religion.

We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.

Fall is here

I know because I cant stop making leaf inspired jewelry and lately if I ever leave the house with out a sweater I will most likely regret it by the end of the evening.

Thoughts from a lazy weekend…

1. Don’t mind the cracks in things.
"there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in"-jim kirwan

2. I really love having lots and lots of clean laundry.

3. Making jewelry will almost always brighten a day.

4. Things are generally pretty imperfect. Flawed. So when something (whether it be a pair of jeans or new favorite restaurant or a really good conversation) near flawless makes its way into our weird little worlds, grab hold and run with it.

5. I want to live a SIMPLE life.
With only what’s needed and brings real joy.

Well put Marilyn.
