embracing change

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives,
nor the most intelligent,
but the one most responsive to change.”
(Charles Darwin)

Change can be a very beautiful thing. It can also be a little traumatic. If we are happy in our current position then change is scary. But if we are unhappy then the possibility of change might be the only thing that keeps you going.

Whatever your viewpoint may be, change is something that we all have to deal with. So we might as well learn to do it better.

The last few weeks and months I have been dealing with some largeish changes (quit my job, moved across the country, left close friends and recent divorce) so I thought I could use a reminder as to how to make sure that they end up as positives instead of traumas. And since its been on my mind I thought I might as well pass it along.

So how can we be better at embracing change?

Look at it differently. Sometimes its as easy as shifting your view point a little bit. The way that you look at an experience will shape what you get out of it.

Live in the present. If we are fully enjoying and embracing where we are when we are there its not so tempting to mourn for the past or worry for the future.

Accept impermanence. But also know that you can control which direction the change takes you.

Learn to let go. The more you try to fight for something that you aren't in control over the more frustrated and unhappy you will be. Work to change the things you can control. Let go of the rest.
Learn from it. Experience teaches hard lessons sometimes. Its best to not have to be taught them more then once.
Have an peaceful
Wednesday!
