Sometimes I worry that in trying to capture a moment in words or images I neglect to actually experience the moment as much as I could or should. I worry that in trying to remember the experience I find myself feeling separate from it. That even when I am in it I am already seeing it more through the lens of a memory then I do through my own present eyes.
I don't want this to be the case.
But I also dearly love the act of capturing
a beautiful place or moment in words or images
(or both).
And I don't want to give that up either.
I am not sure that I have the perfect solution just yet...
(but on the bright side there are certainly worse problems to have :)
EDIT:
PS.
I am also looking for some good book recommendations.
Any ideas?
Thanks! :)
Think of all the beautiful and interesting things you would miss if you weren't always looking for a good photo. I find that it helps me to be more aware and appreciate my surroundings.
ReplyDeletegood point! :)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean and have often thought that myself . . . not sure what the answer is either.
ReplyDeleteTry "These is my words" by Nancy Turner or "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. Two of my recent favorites. I always love a great heroine.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I once went whale watching and spent the whole time obsessed with capturing the whale's tail in the air that I kind of missed the actual experience of the whale! Still I really wanted that picture! Maybe I should have spent half the time watching and half the time taking pictures! As for books, I have such a long list of recommendations that maybe I should blog about it!
ReplyDeleteMo thanks for the suggestions! I will try them.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks all for the comments! :)
